It is usually said that one should measure the words before speaking. But do we really do that? No, we tend to be hilarious sometimes or we want to add a sarcastic comment which can hurt someone’s emotions or even shatter someone’s confidence. Unfortunately, freedom of speech/expression has been wrongly interpreted in the present time.
- Being rude is taken as being an honest speaker
- Being sarcastic is considered as a “classy” way of speech
- Delivering a hate speech is a fashion nowadays
- Being blunt in ideas is the new trend
But we need to stop here and think that, is that the right direction we are heading to or we have messed up our speech preferences. A few words of hope can show someone the light while the same amount of words of dismay can turn that light into darkness. It takes hours to encourage someone but only a few seconds to shatter someone’s self-esteem and confidence.
And, at last, a few words of pride can make you fall from sky to ground while a few words of kindness can lift you high above the sky.
