Haydari (Turkish Yogurt Dip)

It is a thick and tangy Turkish yoghurt dip and is best served with meat kebab and pita bread.

Haydari (Turkish Yogurt Dip)

 Ingredients

1-   1 container plain yoghurt (16 ounces)

2-   garlic cloves (5)

3-   salt (1 pinch)

4-   fresh-chopped dill and parsley (1 bunch)

5-  1 pack of cream cheese, softened (4 ounces)+(optional) 

6- mint leaves for garnish (2)

Method

1- Line a colander with two layers of cheesecloth and place over a medium bowl. 

2- Place the yoghurt on the cheesecloth and cover the colander with plastic wrap. Allow yoghurt to drain 8 hours or overnight.

3- Scoop the drained yoghurt into a mixing bowl. 

4- Mash the garlic cloves with the salt into a fine paste; mix into the yoghurt. 

5- Stir the dill, parsley, and cream cheese into the yoghurt and garlic mixture. 

6- Spread onto a dish and garnish with the mint leaves to serve.
