Health care provision trio at a glance

Health care providers are normally divided into many categories but generally, a trio is used that is, a physician, a nurse and a pharmacist. In our country, unfortunately, we lack the defined roles of the health care professionals which we shall commence in this text.

Health care provision trio at a glance

1- Physician

A physician or doctor is a person who is liable to diagnose the patient's symptoms and stage the disease.

2- Pharmacist

A pharmacist is a person who is a drug expert and is responsible for the effective and safe drug provision.

3- Nurse

A nurse is a person who is responsible for taking care of the patients so that they can attain and maintain their proper health.

Before going to a hospital setup, we need to understand what sort of professionals can help us with what sort of problem. The practice which is usually taking place nowadays is that everything is being run by the physician that causes a great deal of burden on the doctors which contribute to medical errors.

Moreover, it is proven that team-based care has the potential to improve medication use and reduce adverse drug events and cost too. Therefore, this sort of teamwork should be promoted in the best interest of patients so that the treatment provided is safe, efficacious, cost-effective and appropriate. It is high time that we take responsibility as a patient to contribute to the treatment plan in order to enhance compliance and adherence.
